Santa Cecilia Vertical collection (2013-2011-2007-20005) + 2 Riedel "Nero d'Avola" Glass
“The 2013 Noto Santa Cecilia is a smooth and delineated expression with dark fruit tones of cherry and plum that rise to the top. The wine shows no rough edges and the mouthfeel is velvety and rich. It sees 21 days of skin maceration and undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. The finished wine is then aged in two and three-year-old Allier barrique for 14 months. This is a very impressive vintage”. RobertParker.com
“The 2011 Noto Sicilia Santa Cecilia is a fabulous achievement and brings us back to past vintages (like the stunning 2005) that set the tone for this important red wine from southern Italy. The wine is packed tight with all- Sicilian aromas of blackberry, grilled herb, died cherry, caper and green olive. The tannins are well integrated and the wine continues to the palate with generous fruit and Mediterranean herb”.

“The 2007 Sicilia Santa Cecilia - Dark ruby with narrow orange rim. Compelling, sweet, deep nose with notes of undergrowth and touch of oak. Damson and blueberry and a flattering note of tomato leaf and liquorice. Fine tannic grip on the finish. Pretty much complete but can age quite a bit longer”.

“The 2005 Santa Cecilia is one of the standout wines of this retrospective tasting. What makes it so special are the prominent balsam notes of cola and dried mint that are rare to find in aged Nero d’Avola (a grape that tends to o er toasted notes of pistachio and black olive as it continues its evolution). This expression offers an elegant core with delicately finessed cherry and spice flavors at the back. Both the 2005 and the 2007 vintages are still on the market today, in some foreign wine markets”.

Riedel in 1992 already started the research of a selected glass shape for each different kind of wine. Since then different ones were born: from Riesling to Cabernet. In 2016 Georg J. Riedel has invited Nero d’Avola producers to try their wines in 10 different glasses, specially selected, to choose the one which expresses the most the variety’s potential.
